Tips for Buying a Wedding Cake.............

  • Allow plenty of time..cake makers get booked up fast. Book your cake at least six months in advance; if you can.
  • Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find out the local talent.
  • When you have found a cake maker, arrange a meeting to go over their designs.
  • The cake you should choose should be suitable for the venue, climate and number of guests.
  • Write down, draw a sketch or collect pictures that inspire you.
  • Having a professional wedding cake is not cheap.  Remember that adding extra tiers will increase the price.  Always ask if their are likely to be added extras, such as stand tier, or delivery.
  • If you have anyone on your guest list has a food allergy or intolerance make sure your cake maker can cater for your needs accordingly.
  • Ask your cake maker if they can set up the cake at the venue on the day of the wedding and if this is included in the price.
  • Remember to ask your cake decorator when they charge by the slice; is it a wedding cake slice or a party cake slice.  Wedding cake slices are much smaller than party cake slices. Try to get a decorator that charges by party slice; you get more cake for the money.
  • At last, don't panic if something goes wrong.  Keep a list of local cake makers, so you can ask for help if you need it.
